But there’s a full set of Crown wheels for sale for $450.

I mean... the wheels have to come off anyway, right?

Another picture, because everything looks better in sage.

I hate you. Apparently, Mercedes wheels are made of unobtanium and pure platinum because a set of wheels for my car is like $4000 . And I need new wheels. Fml

In all fairness, wheels are just about the only thing of value left in working condition when an old Jag dies.

I was able to get a replacement for my spare that was in good condition off of eBay for $70 shipped.

everyone told me to avoid the Jags cuz of their suspension so I bought the Allroad.

And that says all anyone ever needs to know.

In all fairness, though, I’m pretty confident that it only needs new shocks and a new bushing on one of the lower control arms.

Can you make it so that it’s better than it was and actually holds up?

But it wouldn't be a Jag without suspension trouble.

Is that a “No?”

I haven’t even discovered a way to get the trim to stop rattling. I thought I had solved it by using a small scrap of paper as an invisible shim, but it fell into the gap between the gear selector and the stereo. It still rattles, but I also suspect my car is going to catch on fire.

When I lived in Germany in the late 80s, I was in the Army and my neighbor, another GI, had a Jag whose wiper motor had gone out and a replacement was something like $800. 27 years ago. So the car stayed parked when the sun wasn’t out. And an oil filter was something like $35.

I guess I should be happy that it’s been resistant to inflation. http://www.sngbarratt.com/ProductDetails…

(Also, thanks a lot. I had never looked at the cost of wipers motors. I’ll add this to my list of potential horrors.
